[August 29, 2023] Presiding Bishop Michael Curry shared a message of care of compassion to the Diocese of Hawai'i, and especially to those affected by the deadly Maui fires that destroyed Lahaina and a community that included Holy Innocents Episcopal Church.
We are grateful to the Presiding Bishop for taking the time to share this message, as he faces his own serious health issues. He was only recently released from the hospital on August 23, and is scheduled for surgery soon. Continue to keep our Presiding Bishop in your prayers, for his full recovery. [Chronicle, August 10, 2023] The Diocese's first ChurchBiz Conference was held on Saturday, July 29, 2023, on the grounds of The Cathedral of St. Andrew. Nearly 20 workshops were offered during three sessions, with topics related to "church business." From finances and reports to live streaming and burnout, the conference was being offered to assist clergy and lay (especially volunteers) to better understand and tackle some of the more challenging or even mundane tasks required for the church to function smoothly and properly.
"This is an event we have been asked to put on and that we wanted to provide since before the pandemic," said Rae Costa, the Operations Manager for the Diocese and the event organizer. "We were happy that we were finally able to put this together and that we had such wonderful presenters!" Rae had the mammoth task of securing presenters, configuring the schedule, and juggling attendees with their different choices of workshops. |
