"At camp, we aim to help the keiki and youth grow in all aspects of themselves and they sure did!" said Lynea. "With nearly 250 campers this summer, each week brought joy, laughter, personal and social growth, and memories to last a lifetime!"
This year's summer program saw a nearly 40% increase in participants over last year, a good sign that we are recovering from the damaging effects of the pandemic. Staffers were particularly excited about introducing their new Adventure Camp where campers sleep in tents, cook over the fire and engage in lots of outdoor activity. DAY CAMP AT HOLY APOSTLES:
|
"We are finishing up our summer program with a Day Camp on Hawai'i Island at Church of the Holy Apostles," shared Lynea Mitchell. Ten campers ranging in age from 5-10 years old are enjoying Day Camp. "Our creative counselors plan games and activities each day to keep each camper engaged while helping them learn the Fruit of the Spirit! So far we have discussed and experienced love, joy, peace, and patience! With field trips to the Botanical Garden, library, beach and zoo, our campers are having a blast! We are so grateful to the Church of the Holy Apostles 'Ohana for providing the space, lunches, and so much support!"

ADVENTURE CAMP:
Meanwhile, back at Camp Mokulēʻia, the first Adventure Camp is also wrapping up. Adventure Camp offers a different experience with camp staff teaching campers how to cook, eat, sleep, and play outside for the whole week! Hosted at our new Adventure Camp base, campers sleep in tents, cook over camp stoves or the open fire, and take daily adventure field trips. This first camp included four field trips including two hikes and kayaking and surfing.
A big Mahalo to our campers for coming, families for trusting us, churches for support, and counselors and staff for giving their all!
