My experience on the prayer hike was amazing. I got to see and appreciate God's beautiful work. All of the colors were so vibrant, the trees were lively, the flowers were mesmerizing, the wind was refreshing, and the prayers helped bring all of my focus to God. So overall this helped strengthen my faith in God and made me even more grateful for what he has given us. - Kiona Nakamura
When thinking of the prayer hike I got to think of God being able to be there with us to guide us from dangers. The hike helped me understand that God will always be with you no matter what. During the hike, I got to experience and discover how God made beautiful nature, like through the different shapes of trees and the strong wind breeze we felt when we were hiking. The prayer hike helped me understand that God will always be with us because he helped us complete the hike safely. - Mark Joshua Salvador
We felt the heart of the tree and we all gave it hugs. We enjoyed God's creations in all shapes and sizes. - Kathy Matsuda, Youth Director, St. Augustine's

On Kaua'i, youth from All Saints' in Kapa'a and St. Michael's and All Angels in Lihue, tackled a famous island landmark, the Sleeping Giant.
We felt the presence of the Lord through nature that surrounded us and the new friends we had just met. The challenge of hiking up the side of the mountain, carrying each other’s thoughts and burdens, created a sense of responsibility as well as a sense of community. Some of us hiked at a very quick pace while others took a more casual pace, stopping to get a little closer look at God’s gifts in nature. We connected to one another through stories, food, and a common purpose. - Youth of St. Michael's and Sue Macklin, Director of Children's Ministries
After the long break it was fun meeting back up with our youth group and leaders. It was also great meeting with other youth groups from around the island. - Noah Kotska
It was fun to hike with other youth groups. I am looking forward to more church outings! - Micah Kotska |
