'Iolani School, O'ahu

ʻIolani School's commencement ceremony for the Class of 2026 took place on Saturday, June 6. Interim Head of School, Mrs. Melanie K. Pfingsten, conducted the ceremony for the 283 graduates.  A Commencement highlight video is shown below, but you may also view the entire Commencement ceremony recorded live HERE.

Bishop's Award: Kallie Christensen and Micah Dunn

The Bishop’s Award goes to a senior or seniors who have given unselfishly to church, school and community and who demonstrate outstanding witness to faith in Christ and commitment to principle.

Kallie and Micah, together with Mrs. Kimi Frith and other faculty advisors, have led the ‘Iolani One Team 3:16 club in teaching students not only to read the Gospel but to live it out every day. In her sophomore year, Kallie started the group as a Bible Study, and soon Micah Dunn joined the leadership team along with other seniors. The two of them built the group to 50 students and have sponsored Easter egg hunts, car washes, two bible studies a week (breakfast and lunch) and a panel discussion about Easter on Easter Tuesday every year.

They've worked closely with Chaplain Tim Morehouse to understand where lines exist between the expression of Christian faith in their Church and our Episcopal School. As Tim says, "Whatʻs been really wonderful about these leaders is that they always stayed open, loving and actually GREW as people and in their faith as a part of this process.  They accepted the broad authority of the Episcopal tradition and pushed for their distinctive voice as an expression within it."

Beyond their involvement with their faith group, they both live lives of compassion and service. Despite personal hardship, Kallie provides care for her younger brother, volunteers with our KA‘I Programs and serves as a Senior Prefect, in addition to managing the school soccer team and coaching youth soccer.

Micah is active in worship music, wrestles and competes in judo for the school, and as the youngest of four children, holds a part-time job at Foodland.

They are outstanding young people who have witnessed to their faith and made our community a better place. We wish them the best as Micah continues his studies at the University of Hawai‘i, Mānoa and Kallie makes her way to Chapman University this fall.

St. Andrew's Schools (The Priory), O'ahu

Hoʻomaikaʻi e ka papa 2026! Our remarkable Priory seniors have become St. Andrew’s Schools’ newest alumnae! We are endlessly proud to be part of their educational journey and can’t wait to see what’s next for these bright young women — and the world they’re going to make. This year's graduating class also marks the ending of an era for the Priory as an all-girls school, and the beginning of a new chapter for St. Andrew's Schools as the 2027 school year becomes fully coed.

Bishop's Award: Reina Chia

This award is a symbol of the close relationship between the Bishop, the Church, and St. Andrew’s Schools. It is given to the senior who best exemplifies her religious faith, witness, and values in her life and relationships.This year, the award was given to Reina Chia. The name of the Bishop’s Award winners are engraved on the perpetual plaque that will remain here at The Priory. 

​Reina is a devoted member of her faith community at the basilica on Fort Street Mall, where she participates regularly in worship and offers her gifts in music. At St. Andrew's, she has brought that same grounded devotion into the life of our school: serving on the Senior Chapel and Baccalaureate Committee, volunteering readily to assist the chaplain, stepping forward to read and lead in chapel, and always ready to engage in special Cathedral services — not because she was asked, but because it is simply her way. She has even gone out of her way to join the St. Andrew's Ringing Society, ascending to the historic change ringing bells high in the Cathedral tower and learning an art form that has called the faithful to worship for centuries.​

What distinguishes Reina, though, is not only her faithfulness to her own tradition and the chapel life of the Priory, but the quality of heart she brings to every encounter with traditions not her own. She engages theological questions with genuine curiosity and robust honesty, always willing to sit with the hard and interesting questions that religious life invites. She approaches other faiths and cultures not as a challenge to her own, but as an extension of it — her faith the lens through which she sees the dignity and beauty in everyone around her.

Her teachers describe her presence as one of faithful steadiness: consistent, caring, and respectful toward every person and every space she inhabits. She helps without being asked. She witnesses without grandstanding. She leads by showing up.

Where faith can sometimes draw lines, Reina's faith opens a passage: into harder questions, deeper conversations, and a wider circle of belonging. She walks through that doorway not by leaving her own tradition behind, but by carrying it with her — and in doing so, she makes room for others to be fully themselves in her presence. That is witness.

​In Reina, the Bishop's Award finds its truest expression — a young woman whose faith is not a boundary, but a doorway. Wherever she goes from here, that gift will go with her — and the world will be richer for it.

Seabury Hall, Maui

With grateful hearts and endless pride, we celebrated the Class of 2026, on Saturday, May 30, 2026!  From honoring our Goldyn graduates to hearing the inspiring words of valedictorians Freya Carlson and Julian Cortez, and a heartfelt charge to the class from Bishop Bob Fitzpatrick, the day was filled with joy, reflection, and celebration.  One of the most meaningful parts of the ceremony was hearing each graduate express gratitude to the people who supported them and share words of encouragement for the future. We are so proud of these students and all they have accomplished. Bishop's Award: Christian Pelletier

The Academic Awards ceremony celebrates the outstanding achievements of our students in a variety of disciplines and their significant contributions to our community.

​This year, the Bishop's Award went Christian Pelletier, a student described by many as being "all heart." A cornerstone of our school community, he is the person everyone knows they can rely on—whether it’s to see a complex task through to completion or to step in the moment someone needs support and a helping hand.

Christian engages in service and leadership with a consistent smile and a genuine love for Seabury Hall. This is evident in all he does. Christian is a wonderful representative of our values: grateful, kind, and possessing the important—yet often rare— ability to see the "bigger picture" beyond himself.

Through his unwavering dedication and consistent actions as a community member, Christian has earned the deep trust of the faculty and the respect of his peers. Christian doesn't just show up; he makes our school a better place simply by being part of it.

Friday evening, before celebrating graduation on Saturday, the Class of 2026 gathered for one of Seabury Hall's most cherished traditions: Baccalaureate and Luau. Mahalo to Kaimana Brummel '03 and Fr. Christopher Golding for sharing thoughtful words with our graduates and their families. The evening continued with a wonderful luau hosted by the Class of 2027 and a delicious feast prepared by our talented culinary team.

St. John's School, Guam

Lights, camera, action! The graduation of St. John's School's Class of 2026 was one for the books from speeches, awards given, and diplomas received. Bishop's Award: Juliana Fernando

​​The Bishop's Award is presented annually to the graduating senior who best exemplifies unselfish service to the Church, school, and community through an outstanding witness to faith, character, and commitment to serving others. This year, St. John's School is proud to recognize our Salutatorian, Juliana Fernando, as the recipient of the 2026 Bishop's Award.

Juliana's accomplishments extend far beyond her exceptional academic record. In addition to graduating as Salutatorian, she earned this year's Chemistry Award, which recognizes excellence in both academic achievement and laboratory work in IB Chemistry. Her intellectual curiosity, dedication to learning, and pursuit of excellence have distinguished her throughout her time at St. John's.

Equally impressive is Juliana's ability to connect with others. According to our Assistant Head of Upper School, who accompanied her to an off-island science fair, Juliana possesses a remarkable gift for building friendships and fostering meaningful connections wherever she goes. Her warmth, kindness, and genuine interest in others have made her a respected leader and role model among her peers.

This year, Juliana served as President of the National Honor Society, demonstrating her commitment to leadership and service. She is also a founding member of the school's Rondalla Orchestra, where she celebrates her Filipino heritage while helping preserve and promote the rich tradition of Filipino folk music.

Faith and service remain central to Juliana's life. Every Sunday, she serves her local parish by playing the violin during Mass. Through this ministry, she has developed a deeper appreciation for collaboration, strengthened her musical talents, and gained confidence while using her gifts to serve her faith community.

Juliana embodies the values that the Bishop's Award seeks to honor: academic excellence, servant leadership, faith-filled commitment, and a sincere dedication to uplifting those around her. We congratulate Juliana Fernando on this well-deserved recognition and celebrate the positive impact she has made on our school, church, and community.
